This blog is the resource and record site for the Ashfield and Mansfield Cycling Group, in Nottinghamshire.
Where: That means Sutton-in-Ashfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Hucknall, Eastwood, Mansfield, and surrounding areas, and other places as needed.
Routes. Finding the good ones, of any length.
Facilities (or lack of them): Photos, reviews, danger spots. In due course perhaps even leaning on politicians to do some things useful. Example: where is cycle training for adults in Ashfield?
Tips. Kit, maintenance and the rest.
The Stupid. Is there a good reason why the Blackwell Trail stops half a mile short of the mainline Railway Station in Alfreton?
If it continued up the valley it could be an excellent flat route for the two hundred thousand people who live around Mansfield, Sutton and Alfreton wanting to get a train. As it is there is a detour through Alfreton Town Centre, or South Normanton, both of which routes involve substantial hills and in one case, a dangerously narrow high speed road.
I plan to write about my own daily cycling in Ashfield, and would like to build up a Facebook group interested in cycling locally.
